John Avery Jones’s lecture on ‘The Economics of Austen’ was quickly sold out at the Bank of England on 16 December 2025, the very day of the anniversary. Many members were disappointed not to get tickets or not to be able to get to the Bank. John has therefore kindly agreed to repeat his fascinating talk about various aspects of Austen’s economics, including who was the richest character, how did Austen invest her money, and what did inheritance tax look like when she died.
