The late Brian Southam
The late Brian Southam was a pioneer in Jane Austen studies and in literary criticism more generally. He was a Society committee member from 1969 to 1989, and Chairman from 1990 to 2004. The winner and runner-up of the 2026 Drama Competition have now been announced as Daniel Owen and Rory Stroud respectively.
